ABOUT CHRIST THE KING CENTER

Christ The King Center is a 501(c)(3) Catholic based, non-profit public charity located in Glandorf, Ohio with a mission to inspire individuals, families, and communities to become Saints by making Christ the center of our lives. This non-profit charity is governed by a Board of Directors.

Glandorf, Ohio residents Elton and Jeanette Schroeder have been carefully preparing, developing, and planning the Christ The King Center for many years. The vision for the planned Christ The King Center is to support and augment parish life by providing Catholic based resources beyond the reach of individual parishes by creating a destination that provides Gospel based experiences to deepen faith and move forward in holiness.

The Center will welcome all ages, regardless of where one is on their faith journey.  It is being designed and planned to accommodate both shared group events, or individual reflection and contemplation while providing assistance to local families in need. It will be a place where someone can spend anywhere from a few minutes, to a day, a week, or longer, enjoying the Center's many elements, surroundings, and spiritual experiences.

Why Do This?   Why Glandorf?

Elton and Jeanette Schroeder were born and raised in Putnam County. After sharing their marriage vows, Elton’s career took them to upstate NY, where their three children were born. Over the ensuing thirty-eight years, that career took them on an adventure of moves around the United States. Elton’s Dad as well as both of his Grandfathers were named Joseph and they relied on the assistance of their Family Patron, St Joseph, the protector of the Holy Family, as they bought and sold homes in their many moves.

In 2009 as Jeanette and Elton were preparing for retirement, they again sought the guidance of St Joseph, this time to help them discern the location of their retirement home. During their annual visit to Putnam County, Elton & Jeanette met the owner of a home on 18 acres in Glandorf, and within days, they reached an agreement to purchase it. Soon after, they realized that this property and its surrounding land had once been part of Elton’s paternal grandfather’s farm. Elton’s Dad, as a child ran around the property they now own. Elton and Jeanette firmly believe that God used St Joseph to put them in Glandorf on the 18 acres planned for Christ the King Center.

In 2017 Elton encountered a crippling back issue that left him barely able to walk. Turning to God during overnight Eucharistic Adoration he found a prayer card to St. Rita of Cascia (Saint of Impossible Causes). In addition to attending Daily Mass and sharing their Daily Rosary, he and Jeanette began praying daily to St. Rita to intercede for his healing. Not long after back surgery that provided much relief from the pain, they were inspired to build a rosary walk dedicated to St Rita around their pond. People often come and pray the Rosary around it and experience great peace.

In the past 5 years they have begun to discern God’s unique mission for them and how they were to use the gifts God has given them. In the fall of 2021, during Eucharistic Adoration, Elton sensed a calling to give generously of his TIME, TALENT and TREASURES. He had been blessed with a great career that rewarded him in many ways and Jeanette had been involved in various Parish Ministries as they moved from place to place. Fully aware that TALENT & EXPERIENCE, TREASURE, and now TIME are God’s GIFTS, the vision for Christ the King Center began to emerge.

In 2022 they formed a Catholic-based non-profit corporation with the mission to inspire individuals, families, and communities to become saints by making Christ the center of our lives. Elton and Jeanette chose to establish this non-profit corporation with carefully recruited board members to ensure the original vision and mission for Christ the King Center survives beyond their lifetimes.

With a spiritual fire in their hearts, Elton and Jeanette know they are called by God to utilize their Glandorf home and property and their blessings to bring the Word and wonderment of the Gospel to life, through scripture, nature and the arts at the beautiful and peaceful Christ the King Center located on the very property where God had St Joseph lead them. “Come and See” how God will lead you!
